Q. What is a Visa Check Card?
  A. The First National Bank of Mifflintown's Visa Check Card is a plastic card, similar to a credit card that can be used to make purchases. The funds to pay for the transactions will be debited out of your checking account in one (1) to three (3) days. Any merchant that accepts Visa will accept your Visa Check Card.
 
Q. Why should I use a Visa Check Card?
  A. Using your Visa Check Card saves you the inconvenience of writing a check, plus you'll save money because you won't have as many checks to buy. Also, merchants that accept Visa will accept your Visa Check Card even though they may not accept a personal check for purchases.
 
Q. Who will accept my Visa Check Card?
  A. Your Visa Check Card will be accepted by any merchant that accepts Visa.
 
Q. Why would a merchant accept my Visa Check Card before accepting my personal check?
  A. Because a merchant will get an authorization on your purchase that will guarantee the funds.
 
Q. Is there a charge to have my Visa Check Card?
  A. There is no monthly or annual fee for your Visa Check Card.
 
Q. My spouse and I have a joint account. Can we each have a Visa Check Card tied to the same account?
  A. Yes. You and your spouse can both be issued your own cards which will have different card numbers, but the account information on the cards will be the same.
 
Q. How is my Visa Check Card different from an ATM Card?
  A. Your Visa Check Card is actually two cards in one. It is much more flexible than an ATM card because it can be used to make purchases or withdrawals anywhere Visa is displayed, not just at ATMs and merchant terminals displaying the STAR® symbol.
 
Q. Where else can my card be used?
  A. You can use your Visa Check Card at any merchant displaying the Visa logo. You can also use your card at any ATM displaying the STAR®, Visa®, or PLUS® network logos. By teaming our ATM card with Visa, you now have literally millions of places you can use your card.
 
Q. Will I be charged to use my Visa Check Card at an ATM?
  A. There is no fee to use your Visa Check Card at any First National Bank of Mifflintown ATM. There is a fee when you use your Visa Check Card at an ATM not owned by The First National Bank of Mifflintown to make withdrawals or deposits; plus that institution may also assess a surcharge fee. You can use your card to make deposits at all First National Bank of Mifflintown ATMs and certain other ATM's that indicate they accept deposits.
 
Q. Can I withdraw money from my statement savings account at an ATM?
  A. Yes. If you specify that you want your statement savings account to be accessible by your Visa Check Card either when you apply for the card or by adding it at a later date. You can have more than one checking account and more than one statement savings account tied to your Visa Check Card. However, all purchases will come out of the account you designate as your "primary" checking account on the application. You must have and link a checking account to a Visa Check Card to apply for the Visa Check Card. We cannot open a Visa Check Card with only a savings account due to certain regulations.
 
Q. What are the steps involved in making a purchase with a Visa Check Card?
  A. You present your card to the merchant. The merchant enters your purchase information into the terminal and slides your card through the terminal. You verify the amount and sign the slip or verify the amount and enter your PIN into the terminal. The merchant gives you a receipt. The purchase is deducted from your checking account. The transaction appears on your monthly checking account statement.
 
Q. Can I get cash back at a merchant location?
  A. Yes, some merchants will allow you to authorize more than the cost of goods or services purchased and receive the difference in cash when you use the Visa Check Card.
 
Q. What do I do if I want to return something I purchased with my Visa Check Card?
  A. Resolve the issue directly with the merchant where you made the purchase. When using the Visa Check Card, your rights relating to merchandise and refunds are the same as if you paid by cash or by check.
 
Q. Can I use my Visa Check Card to place orders over the telephone?
  A. Yes. If the company accepts Visa as payment over the phone, you can simply provide the information they request. Never tell someone your PIN to make a purchase. You should always be asked to enter it yourself or to sign the receipt instead of using a PIN number.
 
Q. As a joint account holder, if each person has a Visa Check Card, do we avoid the hassles of sharing one checkbook?
  A. Absolutely! However, it is very important to keep track of your purchases and record your transactions as you make them to keep an up-to-date balance in your checkbook.
 
Q. What are some qualifications The First National Bank of Mifflintown considers before issuing a Visa Check Card.
  A. We will consider the average balance in your accounts, your insufficient funds history and the length of time your account has been opened and in good standing with us.
 
Q. When I use a Visa Check Card, am I borrowing money from a revolving line of credit?
  A. No. All your purchases made with your Visa Check Card are deducted from your designated Primary Checking Account.
 
Q. Will merchants know how to process my Visa Check Card?
  A. Yes. Merchants process your card just like any Visa purchase.
 
Q. What should I do if a merchant's terminal gives me a choice between debit or credit?
  A. With your Visa Check Card, you can choose either one. However, by selecting credit, you avoid any Point of Sales fees that may be charged to you. Your selection only determines how the merchant processes the transaction--not how you pay for it. Your payment is always deducted from your Primary Checking Account. If you select debit, you will be required to enter your PIN. If you select credit, you will sign a receipt.
 
Q. With my new Visa Check Card, will I no longer need my ATM card?
  A. That's correct. Your new Visa Check Card replaces your current ATM card.
 
Q. How many accounts can I access with my Visa Check Card?
  A. You have the capability to access nine (9) checking and nine (9) statement savings accounts with your Visa Check Card.
 
Q. Is a First National Bank of Mifflintown Visa Check Card useful to have?
  A. Decide for yourself. With a Visa Check Card you have the combined features of an ATM card and the versatility and acceptance of the Visa logo allowing you to shop any merchant displaying the Visa logo.

  A. First, you must complete an application for the First National Bank of Mifflintown Visa Check Card. Your application will be subject to approval, but once approved, you'll have your card in a matter of days.
 
Q. If I use my Visa Check Card to shop or get cash outside the United States, will I pay the top rate of exchange?
  A. No. When you use your First National Bank of Mifflintown Visa Check Card to get cash or shop abroad, you will be given a favorable exchange rate on the transaction amount that is deducted from your account.
 
Q. What happens if I buy more than what's available in my checking account?
  A. The purchase won't be approved if you don't have the available funds in your checking account.
